Bonjour et Bienvenue!
I'm Miss (or Mademoiselle) Rolston, and I will be teaching the Regent Park Grade Five Extended French students until mid-February, when Mrs. Brown returns.
I've been in school since 1993 for my first day of Kindergarten at École Samuel de Champlain here in Orillia. From there I worked my way through the Extended French program at Twin Lakes S.S. where I graduated with the intention of becoming a teacher right here in Simcoe County.
The University of Windsor was my next stop, where I completed a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in French Studies and Visual Arts. In between school years I spent a few summers teaching Full-Immersion English in Italy, preparing me for language education here at home! My time abroad was cherished, and I still value the experiences of travel, culture and diversity that I had in my wanderings through various European countries.
From there it was to Brock University for my Bachelor of Education which was a specialty in Intermediate and Senior French and Visual Arts classes. I had the pleasure to do my practice teaching in Welland and Hamilton in secondary schools, where I taught all levels of French, Art and Photography.
A quick year off to Niagara-on-the-Lake to do a Graduate course in Business Management and I was back on track to become a teacher! I suppose that you could qualify me as a lifelong learner. If I wasn't teaching I would certainly be studying one course or another.
Since then I've been keeping busy teaching French as a Supply Teacher with SCDSB since April of 2012.
When I'm at home I like to read (voraciously, and I hope you all do too!), garden in and outdoors, enjoy time kayaking the beautiful Green River where I live, visit and work at the downtown Orillia Farmer's Market, spend time with loved ones including my amazing dog Harry, and learn everything I can about our community, country, and world!
I am looking forward to meeting all of you very soon,
Mlle Elizabeth Rolston
